Thunder crackles in the distance, a humid night,
Our tinroof is playing the tune of pattering rain,
We are together and we are back home on our farm, back from War,
The brick fireplace crackles; Ember dances while I scribble,
A lampstove burns – That’s all we need; Nothing more.
I love sitting in the lamplight, in a not so cozy wooden desk,
Both outside on the deck, together; A miracle come to Earth,
Not saying a word and that makes me smile and cry,
There’s no need to describe it,
Heaven has arrived.
